In Brasilien sind als Ergebnis eigener Forschungen krankheitsresistente Bohnen zugelassen worden. Aufgrund der großen Bedeutung dieses Lebensmittels für Südamerika spricht man von einem Meilenstein.

Eine eigentlich triviale, aber heute eher ungewöhnliche Sicht des Giessener Agrarökonoms Prof. Peter Michael Schmitz: Der Ökolandbau hat hier und da seine Berechtigung, er kann aber das globale Welthungerproblem nicht lösen.
