European Health Commissioner John Dalli is coming under increasing fire from both GMO exporters and EU member states dissatisfied with the European Commission’s GMO policy. In September and October respectively, blocking minorities of EU agriculture and environment ministers stated that the Commission’s proposal to allow national and regional GMO bans through implementation of individual co-existence rules – despite EU market approval – would hurt internal market regulations and violate World Trade Organisation rules.
